The Zafiro travels with three auxiliary boats, two of which hold up to 25 passengers and the other of which has a capacity of 15. These support crafts take small groups on river explorations and ashore for land-based activities. During the four-day cruise, learn to catch piranha using local techniques on the Dorado River and visit the Huaysi community to learn about local traditions. During the five-day route, take a walk through the rainforest overhanging bridges, visit a local Shaman and help plant a tree in the rainforest. Daily water-based excursions on comfortable launch boats allow guests to experience such wonders as pink dolphins and six-foot-wide water lilies, to fish for sharp-toothed piranha, and to interact with the people who live out their days along the river. Bear in mind that even the dry season is not really dry, as the rain forest (obviously) gets rain at any time of year.
Setting up this trip was simple and easy and she was helpful with any and all my questions. On top of it when our flight was cancelled from Iquitos to Lima. That place is crazy and we barely found our guide the first time and completely missed them the second.

Some Questions and Advice About Delfin Amazon Cruises

Tours usually include a demonstration of local fishing methods using primitive nets, lines and harpoons, and you'll get some great views -- and photos -- of the wooden-stilt houses that line Santarem's riverfront. However you choose to cruise along this magical river, make doing so a priority, as it's one of the world's greatest trips. The crew/staff on both ships were excellent, as well. The attention to detail on both ships was remarkable and everyone, from the top managers on down, went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. Bring one or two changes of nice clothes for dinner.
It ranks as the world's largest river for its multitudinous tributaries and the volume of water it discharges, which is estimated (during full flood) to reach a mind-boggling 32 million gallons every second. The Inkaterra surprised our group with its attention to detail. All meals were included and all were a gourmet delight. As for the Delfin I, again with all meals included, we experienced very local foods artistically and deliciously prepared with keeping our desires in mind at all times. After one meal, the staff knew exactly our thoughts and choices for drinks, appetizers, and dishes. The leaders and guides on the Delfin I exuded intelligence, constantly piqued our interest, and worked tirelessly to make our trip perfect.

Some ships will supply them, but check before you go. The chef was exceptional at providing food that reflected the local cultures, yet catering to American (or Australian in some cases) tastes. Every meal was fun and something of an adventure. I learned a lot and I think the others did, too.
The drivers/guides appeared as promised with absolutely no concerns on our part. All involved were informative and professional. This certainly made our trip much more pleasant as this removed a certain tension from the trip.
The naturalists were excellent, full of information and willing to answer any questions--dumb or otherwise--we asked. The entire trip was a wonderful experience. They could spot things I never would have seen. I wish we had stayed on it for a full week instead of the short four days.
